Apple Unveils New M4 MacBook Air, M4 Max Mac Studio, and Updated iPads: Everything You Need to Know
It’s that time of the year again—Apple has dropped a slew of new products, and we’re here to break it all down for you. From the sleek new M4 MacBook Air to the powerhouse M4 Max Mac Studio and refreshed iPads, there’s a lot to unpack. Let’s dive into the details!
The New M4 MacBook Air: A Fresh Shade of Power
Apple’s latest MacBook Air is here, and it’s packing the brand-new M4 chip. But perhaps the most eye-catching update is the introduction of a stunning new color: Sky Blue. Joining the Midnight, Starlight, and Silver options, this “beautiful metallic light blue” creates a dynamic gradient when light hits its surface. Sadly, Space Gray has been retired, but the new blue hue is sure to turn heads.
Every MacBook Air model now comes with a color-matched MagSafe charging cable, adding a touch of elegance to your setup. Under the hood, the M4 chip boasts a 10-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, and support for up to 32GB of unified memory. Apple claims the new MacBook Air is up to 2x faster than the M1 model and 3x faster for neural engine tasks.
The M4 chip, which debuted in last year’s iPad Pro, promises around 20% faster performance than the M3 in both single and multi-core tasks. Other upgrades include support for up to two external 6K displays, a new 12MP Center Stage camera for video calls, and the Desk View feature, which simultaneously shows a top-down view of your workspace.
Starting at $999 ($899 for students), the M4 MacBook Air is available for pre-order now, with shipping beginning March 12th

Mac Studio Gets a Major Upgrade: M4 Max and M3 Ultra
Apple also gave the Mac Studio a significant refresh, introducing the M4 Max and an all-new M3 Ultra chip. The M3 Ultra is a beast, featuring up to a 32-core CPU (24 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores) and up to an 80-core GPU. Apple says the M3 Ultra delivers 1.5x faster CPU performance and 2x faster graphics performance compared to the M2 Ultra.
Storage and memory options have also seen a boost. The Mac Studio now supports up to 16TB of SSD storage (double the previous max) and up to 512GB of unified memory, a massive leap from the M2 Ultra’s 192GB cap.
Connectivity gets an upgrade too, with Thunderbolt 5 support. The M4 Max configurations come with four Thunderbolt 5 ports, while the M3 Ultra models feature six.
Starting at $1,999, the new Mac Studio is available for pre-order now and launches on March 12th.
New iPads: M3 iPad Air and 11th Gen iPad
Apple didn’t stop at Macs—yesterday’s announcements included updates to the iPad lineup.
M3 iPad Air
The new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models now feature the M3 chip, offering 20% faster performance than the M2 models released just last May. The M3 also brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the iPad Air for the first time, enhancing graphics rendering in games.
A new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air features a larger trackpad, function keys, and a machined aluminum hinge. It also includes a USB-C port for pass-through charging. The keyboard starts at $269 for the 11-inch model and $319 for the 13-inch version.
The iPad Air retains its Space Gray, Starlight, Blue, and Purple color options, with prices starting at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch.
11th Gen iPad
The standard iPad gets an upgrade too, now featuring the A16 Bionic chip and more storage options. The base model starts at 128GB, with options for 256GB and 512GB—a welcome change from the previous 64GB and 256GB options.
Final Thoughts
Apple’s latest product drop brings a mix of aesthetic updates and performance boosts. The new Sky Blue MacBook Air is a standout, while the M3 Ultra in the Mac Studio is a game-changer for power users. The iPad Air and 11th Gen iPad also get meaningful upgrades, making them more versatile than ever.
